The leaves smell strongly of mint. This is the only true mint (genus Mentha) that is native to Connecticut, though there are others that were introduced.

• Flower size: 1/4 inch long, in clusters 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide
• Flower color: pale purple, white, or pale pink
