Connecticut has several species of Pyrola; shinleaf is the most common one. Shinleaf is distinguished by having white flowers and oval (as opposed to roughly circular) leaves with short leaf stalks. Round-leaved pyrola also has white flowers, but the leaves are rounder and much shinier.
