Common Mullein Verbascum thapsus Common mullein leaves are grayish with soft, velvety hairs. The plant is a biennial, living for two years. In its first year, it grows leaves in a basal rosette (see the bottom photo). It sends up a flower stalk and produces seeds in the second year.
