Connecticut Plants
Sessile-leaved Tick-trefoil
Desmodium sessilifolium
Sessile-leaved tick trefoil is believed to no longer grow in Connecticut. This plant was photographed at the New England Wild Flower Society's rare plants garden.
- Family: pea (Fabaceae)
- Habitat: dry or sandy soil
- Height: 2-4 feet
- Flower size: 1/4 inch long
- Flower color: pink
- Flowering time: July to August
- Origin: native

"Sessile-leaved" means the leaves have no stalk. That's not quite true of this plant -- the leaves tend to have very short stalks -- but close enough to give the plant its name.
