We will follow part of the Metacomet Trail through a hemlock-hardwood forest and along a brook. Some of the path is rocky; it has wet spots and brief steep bits. Wear sturdy shoes. Older children or teens who have a serious interest in plant identification may come with an adult.

Directions: From Route 71 / Chamberlain Hwy turn east onto Orchard Rd. Take the first right onto Linden Dr and the next right onto Summit Wood Dr.
From Routes 5 + 15 heading south bear right onto Orchard Rd (just after the light at Spruce Brook Rd). Continue for ~2 miles and turn left onto Linden Dr (just after Blue Hills Dr). Take the next right onto Summit Wood Dr.
From Routes 5 + 15 heading north turn left onto Orchard Rd (at the next light after New Park Dr). Continue for ~2 miles and turn left onto Linden Dr (just after Blue Hills Dr). Take the next right onto Summit Wood Dr.
Parking: Continue ~0.4 mile on Summit Wood Dr and park near the electrical right-of-way, tires on the street not the grass.
